Bangalore runs on apps. Food, rides, payments, courses, even house hunting, most of it happens on a phone. So when a customer installs your app and then goes quiet, how do you bring them back? A push notification can be switched off, and a plain text rarely gets a second glance. RCS gives Bangalore businesses a third option: a verified, visual message with a button that opens exactly where you want the customer to go.
What RCS Gives You
RCS, short for Rich Communication Services, lets a business send branded messages inside the phone’s default messaging app. Once Google verifies your brand, your name and logo appear in the conversation. From there you can send rich cards and carousels with buttons like Open app, Pay now or Book a visit. A small but important note: payments happen on your own payment page or a UPI app, not inside the message. The RCS messaging service for Bangalore explains the full setup.
Built for Teams That Prefer an API
Many Bangalore companies would rather trigger messages from their own product than log in to a dashboard. The RCS API supports that, with webhooks that send delivery and read events back to your system. Read status is only a partial signal, because customers must have read receipts switched on, so do not build your whole reporting around it.
Use Cases That Fit the City
- SaaS and consumer apps: onboarding and reactivation cards with deep links back into the app.
- Fintech: payment reminders and offer cards. OTPs can stay on SMS or move to RCS.
- Ed-tech: course cards with a Join now button and session reminders.
- Healthcare: appointment and report cards with confirm, reschedule or call buttons.
- Real estate: project carousels and site-visit booking for launches around the airport corridor and Sarjapur, sent only to contacts who agreed to hear from you.
Festival Campaigns Worth Planning
Local timing helps. Ugadi and Dasara offers are natural moments for a product carousel, and sale-season order updates work well as tappable cards. Pair each campaign with one clear button rather than five, and your results will be easier to read.
Kannada Without the Character Squeeze
Kannada text can go through RCS without the 70-character limit that Unicode SMS has. That gives you room to write properly. Two things to remember: keep the fallback SMS short, and if the Kannada version is what non-RCS customers will receive, it must be registered on DLT.
Pricing in Plain Numbers
Rates at MetaReach Marketing are the same across India. They run from ₹0.50 down to ₹0.30 per RCS message plus 18% GST, depending on monthly volume. For example, 10,000 messages cost ₹4,000 and 25,000 cost ₹8,750 before GST. The lowest rate applies only at one lakh messages a month or more. Fallback SMS is billed at the SMS rate of ₹0.40 down to ₹0.12, and volumes below 5,000 or above 5,00,000 get a custom quote.
Who Will Actually Receive It?
Reach depends on the customer’s operator, handset and app, not on the city. Airtel and Google announced on 1 March 2026 that Airtel’s spam filtering would join Google’s RCS platform, and Airtel Android users may receive RCS depending on settings. Reports from September 2026 say business RCS can reach iPhone users on Jio, though not every iPhone qualifies, while July 2026 reporting found no confirmed support for Airtel iPhones. Fallback covers everyone else.
DLT Still Matters
RCS approval is separate from DLT, but fallback SMS needs a DLT-registered header and template with tagged variables and an opt-out on promotions. For most campaigns you will need both.
Five Steps to Go Live
- Share agent details. Brand name, logo, banner, colour, description, website, support contacts and privacy-policy link.
- Pass Google brand verification. Google confirms your brand and agent.
- Get operator approval. Jio and, where available, Airtel and Vi.
- Prepare templates and fallback. Cards are designed and the SMS fallback is registered on DLT.
- Test, then launch. Send messages to your own team first.
One practical point: the team has no Bangalore office and works from Greater Noida, so launches happen remotely. Timing depends on verification, approvals, creative and API work.
When RCS May Not Be the Right Fit
Be honest about your audience. RCS may not suit very low volumes, audiences using mostly feature phones, or customers based mostly overseas. In those cases plain SMS may serve you better, and that is perfectly fine.
